CINEMA
Gorey Film Club
Gorey Film Club, established in March 2018, is a 32 SEAT CINEMA, where local film-lovers gather every fortnight to watch critically-acclaimed films from around the world. We're a micro Cinema that pitches high. So in addition to an impressively diverse programme, we also host special discussions and Q&A's to encourage inquiry, an exchange of ideas and a wider appreciation of the cinematic arts.
We are proud to partner accessCINEMA to deliver a new community cinema experience. access>CINEMA’s purpose is to deliver a diverse range of quality cinema, that is not available on commercial cinema screens, to local Irish audiences; to provide advice, expertise and support for cultural film programming and technical presentation; to support and present the work of Irish filmmakers; and to grow, develop and promote opportunities to expand access to and participation with cultural cinema exhibition regionally.
Urchin is a gritty British drama about Mike, a rough sleeper in London battling addiction, homelessness and the struggle to rebuild his life after a short prison stint. As he tries to stay clean, find steady work and piece together connections, he’s pulled back by old habits and the harsh realities of life on society’s margins, offering a raw, compassionate look at survival and self-destruction.
