They have successfully pursued diverse specialisations such as Animation, Model Making, Fashion Design, Fine Art, Theatre Set Design, and Visual Communications.

Our course delivers a robust, cross-disciplinary structure, exposing students to a wide range of visual art practices. This allows our experienced tutors to tailor the learning experience to the individual needs of each student. Every student is provided with dedicated studio space and the opportunity to explore a diverse array of media.

While portfolio preparation is a core component, this course goes beyond simply creating a collection of work. We emphasise the development of essential life skills, including creativity, innovation, independent learning, and critical thinking. These skills are invaluable not only for further education but also for a wide range of career paths.

Drawing and visual research remain fundamental elements of the course, as they are essential for strong portfolio development. We focus on building students' abilities to visually communicate observations and develop original ideas. Through set projects, group critiques, and personalised one-to-one tutorials, our encouraging and supportive tutors foster a positive and productive learning environment where students can fully realise their creative potential. Applications to our Portfolio Preparation course can be made by applicants who are aged 17 or over and who have completed the Leaving Certificate and/or a QQI Level 4 programme. Mature applicants (i.e. applicants over the age of 23) do not need to have completed a Leaving Certificate.

Applicants must possess a keen interest in the arts and be willing to commit to a full-time programme. There is no portfolio or interview required to gain entry onto this course.
